Google facilities consume 50 percent less energy compared to the typical data center.
We aspire to make Google an institution that makes the world a better place.”Larry Page CEO & Founder, Alphabet Inc.
Data centers are what keep the Internet up and running. Our employees at the Mayes County data center work to keep Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, and many other Google applications operational, enabling Google to provide fast and reliable services around the clock to millions of people.
As Google continues to grow in Oklahoma, we’ve supported STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, empowered local small businesses through online tools and support, and generally worked with community partners to foster the natural culture of innovation we found here.
Google in the community
We’re committed to playing a positive role in each of the communities in which we live and work. Since 2011, we’ve awarded $2.9 million in grants and employee-matched giving to Oklahoma nonprofits and schools in areas that we’re passionate about, including science and technology education, economic opportunity, and access to the Internet.
Google for education
We believe that every student and every educator, in every classroom, deserves the tools and skills that set them up for success in building the future they want for themselves. That’s why we’re committed to supporting students, partnering with educators, building products, and making impactful investments that help enhance and expand education through technology.
Because the importance of, and real world demand for, digital skills is only increasing, every student from grade school through grad school should have the opportunity to explore computer science and engineering. Whether or not they choose to pursue it, they should have the chance to be the creators—not just the consumers—of technology.
We work to positively impact the world through our products, programs, people, and philanthropy. Our local support for education efforts includes:
- Googlers volunteer with local organizations, including Pryor Public Schools, Chouteau Mazie Public Schools, and Pryor Academic Excellence Foundation.
- Monetary support to Pryor Public Schools through Google’s Data Center Community Grants program.
