Council Bluffs

In 2007, Google began construction of a data center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. We announced plans to build a second facility in 2012 and an additional expansion in 2015. To date, we’ve committed to an investment of more than $2.5 billion in our operations in Council Bluffs.

Data centers are what keep the Internet up and running. Our employees at the Council Bluffs data center work to keep Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, and many other Google applications operational, enabling Google to provide fast and reliable services around the clock to millions of people.

Council Bluffs is our home and we’re committed to playing a positive role in the communities in which we live and work. In 2011, we partnered with the City of Council Bluffs to launch a free WiFi network for everyone in and around Council Bluffs, the BLink-Bluffs Free Community WiFi program.
